DETOXIN
Opioid dependence or addiction is a prevalent health and socioeconomic problem
Opioid dependence or addiction is a prevalent health and socioeconomic problem. There are 2 kinds of pharmacotherapies for opioid dependence: detoxification and opioid maintenance treatment (OMT). The purpose of detoxification is to provide a safe and comfortable withdrawal from drug. OMT aims to induce avoidance of illicit drug use. Many drugs are used for detoxification. The current pharmacotherapies of opioid dependence have unfavorable efficacy and safety profile. Worldwide, about 0.5 million deaths are attributable to drug use. More than 70% of these deaths are related to opioids, with more than 30% of those deaths caused by overdose. A substantial number of patients do not respond adequately to the pharmacotherapies. Thus, our researchers decided to search for a novel more effective and safer pharmacological treatment for opioid dependence. Following 5 years of pre-clinical and clinical trials, DETOXIN was formulated. DETOXIN is a detoxification oral capsule containing 400 mg of the extract of the seeds of Sophora alopecuroides L. var. alopecuroides. DETOXIN helps for opioid detoxification and reduces the acute opioid withdrawal symptoms.
